Apply Now to Avoid Longer Waiting Times for Some Green Cards

12.02.2020

The periods of immediate processing of F2A green cards are about to end. Besides, some F4, EB-2, and EB-3 green cards will also retrogress soon. If you think you or your immediate relatives are eligible for the aforementioned green cards, you better filing a petition now.

As it is known, the Department of State’s Visa Control and Reporting Division makes some announcements monthly. In their latest Visa Bulletin, they publish some projections for green card wait times.

The Department of State’s Visa Control and Reporting Division warned in the visa bulletin that the department will place a final action date on F2A green cards for spouses of permanent residents within the next few months. When a priority date is imposed, individuals from all countries who file an F2A have to wait for a green card. There is no wait at this moment.

The F2A green card for both spouses and children of green-card holders has no backlog or wait time since last year, which is an extremely unusual occurrence.

As of February 2020, applicants from China see a retrogression of the final action date for F4 green cards. Siblings of an American citizen is eligible to apply for an F4 green card. Once retrogression happens for Chinese citizens, the final action date will likely hold for a while.

The Department of State’s Visa Control and Reporting Division also announced that they expect the final action dates for the F1, F2B, and F3 green cards to advance up to six weeks, three weeks, and between one and three weeks, respectively.
